To the Editor:
I would like to thank The Herald for its support and coverage of the "Beat Breast Cancer" fundraiser, which took place at the Fishery in East Rockaway on Sunday, June 28.
The event was held as a fundraiser for the Adelphi/New York State Hotline and Support Program. The weather was gloriously beautiful, and the crowd was amazing! The fundraiser was held in honor of Michelle Geiger, as well as in memory of Boyd Nelson, my father, and Vivian Sherman, my mother-in-law.
I had tremendous support from so many volunteers and businesses. The bands' performances were fantastic, the food was great, and the prize contributions were incredible. We raffled off 41 baskets, three grand prizes, and had a 50/50 drawing. The bartenders, Liz, Danielle, and Beth, never slowed down, and the girls behind the buffet, particularly Kristen, happily served under the hot sun.
Please know that in my heart I will always be grateful to everyone involved. This was such a worthy cause and I will never forget the experience.
