The council's mission is to promote substance-abuse prevention, and to foster emotional and physical wellness.
The council welcomes two new major sponsors to the walk Rita's Ices of Bellmore, along with its traditional major sponsors Merrick Kiwanis, ABSolutely Fit and the Long Island Power Authority.
Walk for Wellness T-shirts will be given to the first 50 people who register and take part in the Walk for Wellness. The first 100 children who compete in the scavenger hunt will receive ABSolutely Fit wristbands.
The walk is the council's only fund-raiser of the year. Day-of registration begins at 11 a.m., and the walk starts at noon.
