New trustees Kevin Glynn and Edward Oppenheimer and new Village Justice Kevin McDonough were elected on June 16. Glynn and Oppenheimer replaced outgoing trustees Jeanne Mulry and Andrew Karamouzis - Mulry lost her bid for re-election, while Karamouzis did not to run - and McDonough succeeded Justice Frank Yannelli, who stepped down after being involved with the village court for more than 40 years.
"I promise I will do my best over the next four years to fulfill the honor you've given me to succeed Judge Yannelli," McDonough told the audience. "I will do my best to follow in his footsteps, but now I've seen how big those footsteps are."
"If you keep this up, Kevin," Yannelli interjected, "I'm going to change my mind!"
Glynn was the first to be given the oath of office, and the recitation was led by his father, Tom Glynn, a former trustee. "I know he's going to serve our village very well," Tom said before swearing in his son.
As a beaming Kevin Glynn took his seat next to Mayor Mary Bossart, Oppenheimer took his oath from District Court Judge Susan Kluewer, who has known him for over a decade. "I know he'll work diligently on behalf of all of us," Kluewer said, "and it's my pleasure to swear him in."
Afterward, Oppenheimer thanked his wife of 30 years, Ethel, whom he credited for his success.
Bossart also announced that Paul Pallas, former superintendent of the Electric Department, will replace Village Engineer Steve Kritsas, who retired this year; Monica Farrell Derr, a former trustee and village administrator's secretary, is replacing Carol Kramer as deputy clerk/treasurer; and former Mayor Eugene Murray will continue in his role as honorary village ambassador.
