Four kindergarten classes at the Robert W. Carbonaro School got into the holiday spirit by making gingerbread houses on Dec. 17.
Students used milk cartons as a base, and, with some help from their parents, applied the frosting cement. Using treats like marshmallows and Froot Loops, they decorated the exteriors of their mini-structures.
“I’m having the best time of my life!” shouted Kendal Martin, to his mother’s amusement. He held nothing back, piling on as many ingredients as the tiny house could hold.
Others went for a more traditional approach, lining the edges with licorice and peppermints. Almost all of the students tasted bits of their houses throughout construction.
Norma Ferrigno, a kindergarten teacher at the school, marveled at one of her students’ architectural skills. “Your parents must be in construction,” she said.
