Go to the head of the classLyn and E. Rock districts ready for new school year

Posted
"We can't wait to start!" said East Rockaway Superintendent Dr. Arnold Dodge. "We have so many wonderful things to look forward to."
East Rockaway may be the smallest school district on Long Island, but it has some of the biggest plans for the coming year, according to Dodge.
"'We will continue to focus on our goals with renewed vigor, including differentiated instruction, integration of technology into the curriculum and character education," he said. "We will also revisit the bond issue and hold discussions with the community about it. I am really looking forward to many positive things this year."
East Rockaway students will meet and greet 13 new staff members, including a new administrator, five teachers, four teaching assistants, two permanent substitute teachers and a teacher aide.
"We have hired some fabulous new staff members who are extremely enthusiastic," said Dodge.
The Lynbrook School District is one of the larger school districts in the area and it continues to thrive. Its 2004/05 staff roster boasts 28 new teachers, a new athletic director and three new principals. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Philip Cicero is a new hire, having started in July. He filled the position left open by retiring superintendent William Metkiff.
