Survey says: Mercy's ER is tops

When a patient arrives at Mercy Medical Center's Emergency Department, conditions and injuries may vary from motor vehicle accidents and sports injuries to heart attacks and pediatric seizures. Mercy employs only physicians who are both residency-trained in emergency medicine and board certified in this specialty. According to Mercy, these qualifications separate its emergency department staff from that of many hospitals on Long Island and in the nation."In a recent nationally recognized and widely adopted patient-satisfaction survey, Mercy Medical Center's emergency service was rated number 1 in Nassau County," said Jonathan York, MD, MBA, FACEP, director of emergency medicine. "Mercy's emergency service strives to provide convenient and quality emergency care."Mercy, which is celebrating 90 years of service, is currently undergoing a $59 million upgrade, including new developments, renovations and expansion projects. The emergency department's expansion was recently completed. The new facility houses expanded radiology, trauma, observation, dedicated OB-GYN and pediatric areas, a new triage area, waiting room and express care.
