Councilman AnthonySantino (R-East Rockaway) fought off challenger Jerry Lamonica (D-Oceanside) to win the Fourth District seat on the Hempstead Town Council. At the end of the night, Republican's had taken back the majority of the town board.
The other incumbents representing Rockville Centre were also reelected. Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) held off challenger Ed Oppenheimer (D-Rockville Centre) in the Ninth Senatorial race. Carolyn McCarthy (D-Mineola) once again defeated opponent Greg Becker (R-Lynbrook) in the Fourth Congressional District. Bob Barra (R-Lynbrook) kept the 21st Assembly District in Republican's hands defeating Alan Bergstein (D-Valley Steam) . Jim Darcy, who decided not to seek reelection in this race, was elected to the town council in District Three.
