Great season, Lady Spartans 17-game winning streak snapped in finals

Massapequa rebounded from an early 7-0 hole to stymie Elmont's offense just enough to come away with a nail-biting 68-62 win. After trailing at the half 34-25, the Spartans pulled within 4 (57-53) with a little over a minute left thanks to Dana Brown (14 points).
But the magic ran out a little early. Massapequa made a series of clutch free-throws in the final minute to stave off the Nassau favorite.
It was a rough end for the team, who will lose most of its starters for next year. "They're in shock," said Elmont coach Gregg Petrocelli. "They're just devastated for it to end."
