Feel the Latin beat when Grupo Niche and Tito Rojas bring their salsa rhythms to Tilles Center, on Friday, May 13, at 8 p.m. The contrasting styles of these performers combine for an exciting evening of salsa sounds.

Grupo Niche, based in Cali, Colombia, is immensely popular throughout Latin America. Headed by founder Jairo Varela, the group found success in the early 1980s, beginning with the album Querer es Poder, which featured the hit single “Buenaventura y Caney.” Since then, the group has achieved acclaim for both their vigorous, uptempo dance music and slower dance numbers.

They are known for the hits “Del Puente Pa’llá,” “Sin Sentimientos,” “Mi Pueblo Natal,” the famous cumbia “Canoa Rancha,” and their most well-known tune, “Cali Aji,” among many others.

Joining Grupo Niche is Salsa singer and bandleader Tito Rojas, of Puerto Rico, known as “El Gallo Salsero” (The Rooster of Salsa), who brings his salsa romantica style to the Tilles stage. The singer is known for such hits as “Señora de Madrugada” and “Nadie es Eterno.”
