The honoree will be Jill Levine of Merrick, who has been an active Hadassah member in the Merrick-Bellmore chapter, Dayan Lilah group.
In addition to her many years working as membership vice president for her Hadassah group, Levine will be honored for her work in creating Forever 9: the Robbie Levine Foundation, which has brought automatic external defibrillators to schoolyards across Merrick-Bellmore. Levine's son, Robbie, died of an apparent heart condition two years ago while playing Little League baseball at Levy-Lakeside Elementary School in Merrick. There was no defibrillator on the school field.
With her husband, Craig, Levine has also been instrumental in passing legislation that requires defibrillators to be stored in cars of all first responders.
In keeping with the Levines' vision, profits raised from the Golf, Tennis and Games event will go to the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Mother Child Center in Israel to advance the research and care of pediatric cardiology. Defibrillators will also be donated to a Nassau County park as well as to a Youth Aliyah Village in Israel.
"We are thrilled to be honoring Jill Levine, whose efforts and energies always go toward the well-being of children. We hope many people will attend to honor her," said Lisa George and Kit Benton, event co-chairwomen.
Profits raised come not only from attendance at the event, but also through the sale of raffles and sponsorships. If you are interested in attending or sponsoring the event, contact Nassau Region of Hadassah at (516) 766-2725, or Lisa George at 509-4983 or Lisala60@aol.com.
