The St. Agnes CYO basketball program had several teams in Christmas tournaments throughout Long Island this holiday season and did so with great success.

St. Agnes 4th Grade Boys coached by Kyle Quinn and Brian Carlstrom went to the Championship Game finishing second in the Our Lady of Victory (OLV) Tournament. Dermot Quinn and Kieran Lawrie were selected to the All Tournament Team. The 5th Grade Girls Team coached by Bill Hogan, Tom McNicholas and John Colvin also took their girls took to the Championship Game at the OLV Tournament falling to host OLV 28-24 in the Championship Game. Liz Gomelia and Alex  McNicholas were named to the All Tournament Team.

Kyle Quinn and Mike Prendergast coached the  5th Grade Boys Team to the OLV Championship. Ryan McCarthy won the Tournament MVP and Regan Quinn and Ryan Prendergast joined Ryan on the All Tournament Team.

St. Agnes also hosted its annual 6th Grade Christmas Tournament again (which was renamed and is now the 2nd Annual Joseph P Altman Christmas Basketball Tournament) and produced two champions this year. The A division was won by John Suydam and Bobby O’Brien’s coached squad and they remain remain undefeated thus far this this year. Pat O’Brien and Mike Haines coached their boys to the B division Championship. Ryan Haines produced the moment of the season with a  buzzer-beating 30 footer catapulting Sts Agnes into an overtime win in the semifinals and they never looked back from there.

The Sts Agnes 7th Grade A Team coached by Bill Hogan and Tommy Ahearn played up in an 8th Grade Tournament traveling out to  St Gertrude’s and took home the championship with a couple of hard fought victories over St. Edwards and St. Gertrude’s
