Members of Rockville Centre’s Board of Education were honored during the school board meeting on Oct. 25.
“[The] five very special volunteers, and I say that with all humility,” schools Superintendent Dr. William Johnson said, “get a lot out of what they do — but nothing monetarily.”
He remarked on the amount of time and effort it takes to serve as a member of the school board, and said the board’s decisions make a difference to the community.
“We thank them, on behalf of the community, for their effective leadership,” Johnson said.
Speaking to the trustees directly, he added, “Thanks for your dedicated service to the children of our community.”
Johnson’s remarks were followed by a brief reception sponsored by the Rockville Centre Council of PTAs.
