Have a good time and for a good cause

To get people to go to a party, the host might try to hire a big-name band, convince a famous person to show up, or at least tout half-price drinks. You need some kind of gimmick.
This party, at the Winner's Circle dance club in Westbury on March 18, is a bit different, though. The flyer, which could have been run off an office photocopy machine, says the party begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday, a mellower part of the week for most folks. The featured buffet dinner is nothing fancy: eggplant parmigiana, deli sandwiches, pasta, and salad. Plus, it's $20 to enter.

The party is a fund-raiser, it turns out, and the $20 is a donation, not a cover charge.
The inconspicuous flyer from the LIFPWA also notes that there'll be a raffle, but it leaves out the more interesting details -- what they are giving away as prizes.
