He was up to the challenge

East Rockaway High School 2012 graduate Vincent Celeste was the third-place winner in the Long Island Sports Challenge, a contest from Bethpage Federal Credit Union and Team Up 4 Community that encouraged community service among Long Island student athletes. He was awarded a $500 sports grant.

From May 1 through July 31, participating student athletes recorded their efforts and each team’s video was then posted on Team Up 4 Community’s YouTube page and viewers voted on which efforts they felt were the most compelling. The top 10 videos with the highest number of views were then posted for visitors to vote on and three winners were selected.

Currently in his first year at SUNY Maritime College, Vincent’s video showcased his volunteer efforts assisting others in the Victory Challenge and the Special Olympics.  To view his winning video, visit the Team Up 4 Community website.

Vincent is also the recipient of the East Rockaway High School 2012 Varsity Baseball “Mr. Hustle” Award and the Nassau County Office of the Comptroller’s Achievement Award. A resident of East Rockaway, Vincent is pictured with his proud parents Charles and Patricia.
