Kate Murray, supervisor for the Town of Hempstead, said that one of Caban¹s teachers found inspiration in Caban¹s story to face her own bout with breast cancer. ³The teacher refers to Caban as her hero and the one person who has helped her through her ordeal,² Murray said. Caban has also found time to help other groups and cases. Last year, Caban helped her Girl Scout Troop bring gifts to hospital bound children at Christmas. She raised over $7,000 for ³Hope With Heart,² a children¹s camp for youngsters with heart problems.
