The Heralds were given the awards for Best Homes Publication or Homes Special Section and Best Cover Design for their Oct. 19, 2006, special section, ³At Home.²
The Heralds also won the award for Best Signature Page or Signature Section for their Oct. 26, 2006, ³Halloween Safety Tips² section.
The awards reassured Jeff Negrin, production manager for the Art and Production departments, that the Heralds are making great strides. He added that the award-winning ³At Home² cover, which he designed, was simply an idea that occurred to him during a brainstorming session. ³All this stuff just comes to me ... it¹s what I do,² Negrin said.
Rhonda Glickman, Richner Communications¹ vice president of sales, who oversaw the creation of the award-winning entries, said it was a tremendous team effort and that the Herald advertising representatives deserved credit as well.
³The blend of creativity, sales and production teams offered all the right ingredients to make a great project,² Glickman said.
Karen Bloom edited the honored special section, and Nicole Kivirtzikis designed it.
This was the first SNA award the Heralds¹ sales department has received, and Glickman said it was exciting to be recognized nationwide. The ³At Home² special section also won statewide praise from the New York Press Association, winning the award for Best Special Section Cover in April.
