Kindergartners at Hewitt Elementary School recently participated in an event they will surely never forget. Reading specialist Trici Broderick and kindergarten teachers Patrice Camastro, Danielle Cannon, Dave Ferrone and Donna Jackson brought literacy to life when they staged the wedding of Q and U in the school’s auditorium.
With Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum Christopher Pellettieri officiating at the ceremony, Q, James Beatty, and U, Maggie Miller, joined by all of their 76 bridesmaids and groomsmen, were joined in matrimony. Cameras flashing away, family and friends of the extended bridal party watched as the children, wearing their best, learned that Q will forever be joined with U.
“It was a wonderful and joyful culmination of the students’ study of the alphabet. We are always looking for innovative and exciting ways to enhance learning at Hewitt. This event was certainly one of the highlights of our school year,” said Principal Liz Pryke during the reception that followed.
