For the third consecutive year, high school students from Long Island and Queens will postpone the start of their summer vacations and forgo jobs and beach time in order to spend a week at Molloy College learning business skills.

Eight-five students will participate in a “boot camp” run by Molloy’s Division of Business. The students will listen to talks from current and former business executives on a variety of important business topics, including a business ethics course, “Can You Handle the Truth,” as well as “Theatrical Techniques for Business Speaking” and “Walking on Wall Street: A Day in the Life of an Investment Banker.” They will also participate in a stock market trading simulation game, “Buy! Sell! Hold! and a public speaking competition, to name a few of the activities planned for the week.

“We are pleased that – in just three years – this program has become a ‘must do’ for so many high school students who are considering careers in business,” said Stephen Bier, dean of Molloy’s Division of Business. “Not only do we provide them with some great training that will serve them throughout their academic careers, but we also open their eyes to what the business world is really about. In doing that, we help them make decisions that could influence the rest of their lives.”

The camp will conclude on Thursday night with a dinner and graduation ceremony. Parents and students’ guidance counselors will be invited to the final event.
