David Quinn, of 265 Sunrise Highway, was arrested after a four-month investigation by the New York State Police Department. Quinn's attorney, Alan Gordon, said his client plans to plead innocent.
On Dec. 23, Quinn allegedly paid $500 to what he thought was a hit man to cut the girl's father in the groin area and sexually mutilate him, according to the Queens District Attorney's Office. The hit man was really an undercover state police investigator.
In order to protect his daughter, the intended victim's name is not being released.
Quinn reportedly began discussing the attack with the investigator at the Sunset Diner in Rockaway on Dec. 17. They made contact on three other occasions, Dec. 20, 23 and 30. During the course of their conversations, Quinn is reported to have given a description of his girlfriend's ex-husband, his location and other identifying information, including his date of birth.
On Dec. 23, the defendant is alleged to have agreed to pay $1,000 for the stabbing, $500 up front and $500 upon completion. He reportedly gave the investigator the first payment at the meeting.
Fortunately, as the result of superb investigative work, the defendant's violent designs were discovered, and now he faces prosecution and certain punishment, said Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.
Quinn was arrested at his girlfriend's home on Dec. 30 after his final conversation with the investigator. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
The target of the attack, a 60-year-old Queens resident, was arrested last Sept. 18 after his daughter told a friend that he had raped her, and the friend told police. He was charged with first- and second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, third-degree rape and sodomy and incest. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
