Noelle Lucivero was known for always looking out for others, an aspiring teacher who had traveled to Taiwan to teach children English. Friends said she was an outgoing and amiable young woman who always smiled and loved to dance.

“She was always bubbly and very charitable,” said her friend, Sarah Monaghan. “She was adventurous and an all around happy person who liked to give back to others.”

Hundreds turned out to give back to Noelle Lucivero last Sunday for the first annual Elle’s Encore, a fundraiser at the Inn that celebrated Lucivero’s life, which was tragically cut short when she was struck by a car on Dec. 26 while crossing West Beech Street.

As someone who understood the value of life, Monaghan said, Lucivero was a multiple organ donor, and the event at was aimed at raising money to help her family pay for outstanding medical costs and to support Donate Life America, a non-profit founded in 1992 that educates the public about organ, eye and tissue donation. Lucivero had celebrated her 25th birthday days before the tragedy. She attended Long Beach High School and graduated from Kellenberg Memorial High School, and later graduated from SUNY New Paltz, where she was a history major and a member of the dance team.

Noelle was a passionate teacher and dance instructor who believed in diversity, Monaghan said. She had traveled to Taiwan, Monaghan explained, to teach English. Elle’s Encore is a non-profit named after Lucivero’s nickname, “Elle,” and Monaghan said that the group plans to hold future events to support charities that Lucivero supported.

Nearly 500 people turned out to show their support on Feb. 13 and local merchants donated many of the raffle prizes. Monaghan said that Noelle left an indelible mark on the community, and that she was known for her charitable spirit.

“I was amazed by the turnout and support we received, everyone was so generous,” said Monaghan, who helped organize the event. “The Inn is amazing at throwing benefits, and I’m so glad everyone turned out to show their support — Noelle meant so much to so many people.” For more information, visit www.ellesencore.com.
