Finding shade might just have been more important than finding a bargain to some shoppers during Sunday's arts and crafts fair. But even the heat could not keep hundreds of residents and visitors from taking part in the Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce's annual event.
Pickles, pony rides and popcorn were just some of the pleasures people partook of at the fair.
There were 142 booths filled with everything from airplanes made out of recycled soda cans to tie-dyed T-shirts. While shoppers may not have agreed on what was the perfect purchase, they all agreed that it was hot. And that was okay by the event organizers, who were just happy that the rain stayed away until late in the afternoon. To keep people cool, they set up cold soda and water booths throughout the three-block area of South and North Village avenues.
The next big event for the chamber is its annual promenade. They have yet to set a date for the promenade but say it will be sometime in September.
Bud Jacobs, of Rockville Centre's PrimeTime, coordinated the event for the chamber and said it was a definite success.
All chamber functions are created to promote the businesses of Rockville Centre.
