Hundreds of runners from Long Beach and the tri-state area turned out for the city’s annual 4-Mile Snowflake Run last Saturday. Due to icy conditions on the boardwalk, the race was held on Broadway and began at New York Avenue, where approximately 500 runners competed for awards in different age categories.

Jaime Palacios, a 55-year-old from Flushing, came in first at 23:45, while Wantagh’s Michele Henschel, 27, came in at 25:01 and eighth overall. Oceanside resident David Putterman, 28, placed second at 24:05.

Awards were also presented to the first overall male and female finishers and first male and female Long Beach finishers. In the female 25–29 age group, Cristin Delaney-Guille, 29, of Long Beach, came in at 26:00 and came in first in her group, and 17th overall. Long Beach resident Johan Ahr, 47, was the first of the Long Beach finishers and came in third overall with a time of 24:20.
