Introducing Lynbrook National Junior Honor Society's newest members

Posted

Family and friends gathered at Lynbrook North and South Middle Schools as 148 new members were inducted into the Lynbrook chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.

These seventh and eighth-grade initiates were chosen based on their ability to meet the Society’s standards with regard to scholarship, leadership, character, service and citizenship. They will join their fellow members in upholding these principles by acting as role models for their peers, both in the classroom and in the community.

Nassau County Legislator Francis Becker was the guest speaker at the induction ceremony at North Middle School. “You will meet many challenges along the way,” he said. “But always remember, the two most powerful words in the English language are ‘I can.’”

As the North Middle School inductees were called up one by one to receive their NJHS membership certificates, Advisor Matthew Sarosy read a paragraph about the achievements, hopes and dreams of every student. Everyone was invited to share refreshments at a reception following the ceremony.

A similar ceremony took place at South Middle School, under the direction of Advisor Jennifer Fusco. The South Middle PTA provided refreshments for the inductees and their families after the ceremony.
