The public is invited to a ceremony in Mineola on Monday, April 5, to commemorate the 94th anniversary of the Irish insurrection against British rule during Easter Week, 1916. The commemoration will take place at noon at the Easter Rising Monument on Courthouse Drive behind the Nassau County Courthouse. There will be remarks by a representative of the Irish government, pipe music by the Nassau County Emerald Society Pipe Band, other music by Victor Cunneen, and additional remarks by some of the leaders of the many Irish-American organizations in Nassau County, including those responsible for the current refurbishment efforts of the Easter Rising Monument.
