John Street School marked Music in Our Schools Month with a music-themed Spirit Week from March 23–27, organized by the school’s music department.
The week opened with Music Genre Monday, when students dressed as rock, pop and country artists or other favorite performers. On Music T-Shirt Tuesday, students wore concert, musical and band apparel.
Wednesday’s theme, Mr. Worldwide Wednesday, was inspired by Pitbull and encouraged students to dress in styles representing music from cultures around the world. On Thursday, students celebrated “Welcome to the ’60s” by wearing tie-dye or outfits inspired by the decade. The week concluded with JSS Music Shirt Friday, as students wore school music gear or spirit wear.
In addition to themed dress-up days, the celebration included karaoke and dance activities organized by music teacher Alexa Gottesman, complementing each day’s theme.
