Defining a Master Educator as "an individual who has demonstrated a significant impact on students, has made a contribution to the practice of the profession, and has distinguished him/herself in scholarship, leadership and character," the award is named in the memory of Sister Kathleen Waters of Molloy College, a member of the Teacher Center Policy Board, who personified a Master Educator.
"Anybody who knows Kathy knows that whatever she chose to do in life, she would master it," said school superintendent Dr. William Johnson. "It's a blessing for the Rockville Centre School District that she chose to work with us and our children.
"Kathy Sicinski radiates Master Educator," said Susan Kromol, an English teacher at SSMS. "I do not need to tell you she deserves this award." Rose Cammarata, assistant principal at SSMS, called Sicinski "the quintessential teacher."
