Kennedy High School seniors closed one chapter of their lives and began a new one at their graduation on June 28 at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury.
A number of speakers offered congratulatory and inspirational remarks to the green-robed class of 2015, including Chuck Schumer, New York’s senior U.S. senator; Dr. Nancy Kaplan, a trustee of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District and an administrator and adjunct professor at St. John’s University; Lorraine Poppe, Kennedy’s principal; Beatrice Brown, the valedictorian; Nick Field, the salutatorian; and Anna Lawrence, president of the senior class. One senior, Mara Friedman, who starred in theatre productions at Kennedy, sang a musical interlude.
