According to Ivan Launer, a member of the Kiwanis Club, over 400 local residents attended the annual fund-raiser, which was designed to raise money for the club¹s college scholarship and fund projects for underprivileged children.
Launer said that all participants were presented with unlimited juice, pancakes, sausages, coffee and tea. Plus, free blood pressure and glaucoma screenings by past club president Dr. Alan Alterman and current club president Dr. Steve Perrick. The event also included fun activities such as face painting, balloons, door prizes and raffle drawings for electronic, photographic and entertainment products.
Financial support for the event was provided by Allure Home Improvements, Figarelly¹s Delicatessen Caterers, Wal-Mart of East Meadow, Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island, Rita¹s Ices, Astoria Savings, Empress Diner, Charles O¹Shea Funeral Home, Sunrise Assisted Living, Big Chief School and Camp of East Meadow.
