A 12-year-old Long Beach girl was struck by a car at the intersection of E. Park Ave. and Roosevelt Boulevard on Wednesday, according to City Manager Charles Theofan.
Long Beach Fire Department Chief Richard Corbett said that the incident occurred at 5:36 p.m., as the girl was crossing the street. She was struck by a vehicle heading east, although Corbett said it had yet to be determined if the girl was crossing when the light was green or red.
Corbett said the girl suffered a head injury and was transported to Nassau University Medical Center. Corbett said at this point, the incident appears to be an accident. No arrests or other injuries were reported. A spokesman for the Long Beach Police Department was not immediately available for comment.
“She’s conscious and alert, they believe she will be fine, but they took her to Nassau County Medical Center just to be sure,” Theofan said.
