A Long Beach man was arrested in Island Park on Monday morning after police said they found him in with possession of more than a pound of marijuana.
According to Nassau County police, Michael Lawry, 19, of Minnesota Avenue, was driving a 2002 Dodge erratically on Long Beach Road. Lawry was pulled over at 12:27 a.m., and officers, after a search of the vehicle, found a bag with marijuana on the floor of the car. Further investigation revealed that Lawry was in possession of a total of 10 bags containing more than 16 ounces of marijuana.
Lawry was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, failing to maintain a single lane of traffic and failure to signal a lane change. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
