The city’s annual Memorial Day parade steps off from Ohio Avenue at 9:30 a.m. on May 27 and marches to City Hall. Over 50 organizations are participating and for the first time, the Long Beach Lifeguard Patrol will be marching. Additionally, a pair of veterans wounded in combat will lead this year’s parade. Iraq War veteran Joseph Youn, and Vietnam veteran Jimmy Buckman, both residents of the Northport VA Medical Center, will serve jointly as Grand Marshals. Youn and Buckman will lead more than 50 different organizations participating in this year’s Memorial Day Parade. A ceremony and lunch will follow the parade at the Long Beach VFW Post 1384.
