A former Long Beach resident who was arrested on Jan. 13 and charged with threatening to kill 47 officials with the Securities Exchange Commission and other regulatory agencies remains behind bars after a federal judge denied bail.

Vincent McCrudden, 49, a commodities trader who lived in an apartment on West Broadway and operated Alnbri Management LLC and Account Asset Management LLC, was denied bail by federal Judge Denis Hurley on Feb. 3 as he awaits trial for threatening to kill federal regulators, including SEC Chairwoman Mary Schapiro. He was charged with two counts of transmitting threats.

The threats were made while McCrudden was named in a lawsuit for operating unregistered commodity investment pools. According to the Associated Press, Hurley denied bail due to the nature of the threatening e-mails, which Janice Fedarcyk, the FBI’s assistant director in charge, said were “direct, extreme and specific, vowing to kill securities regulators and encouraging others to do the same.” McCrudden's attorney, Bruce Barket, did not return calls for comment.
