L.B. Waterfront Warriors ‘Holiday for Heroes’ drive

Posted

The Long Beach Waterfront Warriors, with the help of the VFW Lt. John F. O’Grady Post 1384 and the Allegria Hotel, will commence a citywide campaign to bring holidays to U.S. troops. In addition to sending care packages to soldiers overseas, the group will also deliver packages to wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the Nassau V.A. Hospital in Northport. Last year, with the help of Long Beach Catholic Regional School and the Long Beach Public Schools, Waterfront Warriors shipped over 240 care packages overseas. This year, the organization hopes to double that number.

Donations may be dropped off daily between 2 p.m. — 9 p.m. to the L.B. VFW at 675 W. Park Avenue, and will be collected through early December. On December 5 from 2 p.m.-5 p.m., the Allegria Hotel will host a “Wrap Party” with a Christmas tree lighting ceremony and a visit from Santa Claus. Donations may be brought to the Allegria on December 5 to help wrap packages for soldiers and enjoy some Christmas cheer. For more information, visit www.longbeachny.org.
