Rockville Centre residents Seamus and Jacqueline Kerr were honored by the Long Island Gaels Gaelic Football Club on Jan. 22, at a dinner that took place in Lambrou’s Restaurant and Catering in Island Park. More than 250 people attended the event.

Seamus shared this acknowledgement with his family and many close friends. He was honored for all his hard work and dedication to the club. His wife, Jackie, was presented with The Club Member of the Year award. She received the award for her dedication to the younger players. Seamus was surprised when he also received a Certificate of Recognition from the Town of Hempstead for his community service, presented to him by Councilman Anthony Santino.

The Long Island Gaels Gaelic Football Club has been around for 10 years. It fields a men’s team and a children’s team with players ranging in age from 6 to 15. Members of the club, including children from throughout Nassau County, with at least 20 from Rockville Centre, begin indoor training at the end of February. There is ongoing free registration.
