Long Island Crisis Center the oldest 24-hour, seven-day-a-week crisis intervention and suicide prevention hotline, is looking for volunteers for the upcoming Volunteer Counselor Training Program. Those interested in becoming a volunteer telephone crisis intervention counselor with LICC must first call 826-0244 to schedule an interview. No experience is necessary to volunteer and the hours are flexible to fit the individual needs of volunteers. LICC's next training sessions will be held 7-10 p.m. Dec. 11 and Dec. 18.
Holiday Happenings, hosted by DOCA, will be on Dec. 13 at 125 Merle Ave. The event starts at 10 a.m. There will be Santa from 10:30-12:30 with free pictures and gifts, a baton exhibition at 11:30 and a horse-drawn wagon ride starting at 11:00. In between will be cooking, decorating, crafts and lots of fun in the auditorium.

Christmas Tree Sale The Daniel J. Bradley Council Knights of Columbus #3102 is having a Christmas tree sale from Dec. 12 through Dec. 21, Mondays through Fridays from 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. The sale is at St. Christopher's Church in Baldwin, located at 11 Gale Ave, a mile west of Grand Avenue on Merrick Road. All proceeds go to the Knights of Columbus.
Community Outreach Pre-Hanukkah Havdala There will be a special pre-Hanukkah Havdala ceremony for non-members on Dec. 21 at the shul of the Young Israel of Oceanside, located at 150 Waukena Ave., from 5-7 p.m.
Youth Puppet Show Who doesn't love a puppet show? Children of all ages are invited to a Hanukkah puppet show, "The Miracle of Hanukkah." Bereavement Support Group for Widows and Widowers, ages 50 to 60
Small intimate support groups designed specifically for those who have recently lost a spouse in the last year.The group will start meeting on Jan. 6 and will continue for eight weeks.
