The budget vote dates are Wednesday, April 4, for Bellmore, and Wednesday, April 11, for North Bellmore, at the respective library buildings.
North Bellmore
In North Bellmore, residents may vote at the library from 1 to 9 p.m. on April 11. The proposed 2007-08 budget of $2,424,800, up $113,000 over last year. Additionally, current library board President Alvin Johnson is running unopposed for another term on the Board of Trustees.
The net operating budget amount represents close to a 5 percent increase over last year's tax request of $2,241,700. The increase is largely attributable to a $21,500 step up in office expenses and a $31,800 gain in administrative costs, as well as a rise of $71,200 in professional, clerical and support staff salaries and benefits.
A public hearing at which these and other items in the proposed budget will be discussed, is scheduled for March 29 at 7:30 p.m.
