Library renovations nearing completionClosing to facilitate move
Posted
Renovation of the old library building is ongoing.
The new wing will open and serve as a temporary library on Tuesday, March 8. Certain adult sections and selections will remain in storage but the children's room will have full use of its collection and materials. Some areas, such as the community room, the computer-training lab, the arts and crafts room, the homework center and the Baldwin history room, will be used for other purposes until both wings of the library are fully operational.
Patrons can enter the library by way of the Town of Hempstead parking lot in the rear of the library. The Grand Avenue entrance will remain closed during the remainder of renovations. The building is still under construction and patrons should be cautious while walking in the area.
Book drops will continue to be open throughout the community. Patrons may keep audio-visual materials with due dates between Feb. 22 and March 8 until the library reopens. There will be no fines on any materials during the two-week period that the library is closed.
