Clad in his own LIU Post Lacrosse jersey, 5-year-old Connor Bradley was made honorary captain as the LIU Post Pioneers took the field in a Men’s Lacrosse home game against Molloy College’s Lions on April 27. Dubbed “Team Connor Day,” the stands were brimming with Connor’s friends, neighbors and family who helped raise $8,200 for the Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop-University Hospital. Donations were collected through the sale of raffles and “Team Connor” bracelets, in addition to contributions that were made in lieu of admission to the game.
As any good Team Captain would, Connor led his team to victory, in a thrilling game that ended in a 15-11 win for the Pioneers. Connor also engaged his team in a post-game congratulatory line, where members from both Men’s Lacrosse teams recognized each other’s efforts with acknowledgements of high-fives. Connor’s sense of true sportsmanship was also praised by members of both teams as they proudly chanted his name.
