Local school budgets pass

      Budgets proposed by the Sewanhaka, Franklin Square and Elmont school districts passed a public vote on Tuesday.
      Sewanhaka's $141 million-plus budget, a 5.3 percent increase over the current budget, passed with 3,693 yes and 2,518 no votes.
      Franklin Square's $30.4 million budget, a 5.2 percent increase, passed with 997 yes and 651 no votes.
      Elmont's $65.5 million budget, a 6.7 percent increase over the current budget, passed with 1,055 yes and 688 no votes.
      In the race for Elmont school board, incumbent Lorraine Ferrigno was reelected, defeating Michele Fuller 1,283-831. Carol Parker-Duncanson won the four-candidate race for the seat vacated by Pamela Monteverde. Michael Jaime won the race for the seat vacated by school board President Robert Nori, defeating Lascelles Aboagye, 974-836.
      Board President Joe Armocida and Vice President John Randazzo ran unopposed in Franklin Square.

Elmont library budget passes, too
      Elmont library's $2.2 million-plus budget passed, 1,041-526. In addition, Pauline Johnson, Joy Madera and Joanne Mazzeo were elected to the board of trustees.
