East Meadow resident Camille Leone was one of nine women honored by Town Supervisor Kate Murray for her outstanding contributions to the community at the annual Pathfinder Awards Ceremony held at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion on March 6.

Following the keynote speech delivered by Christine Conniff Sheahan, founder of Networking Magazine, Murray spoke about the honorees and their commitment to their communities.

“Leone is actively involved in the Wounded Warriors Foundation, the East Meadow Kiwanis Club and the Parkway Elementary School PTA, making a positive difference for children and veterans,” said Murray.

As a Kiwanian, Leone participates in the holiday food basket drives and provides clothing and toys to children in two local families each year. In addition, she supports the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center at North Shore LIJ and her family participates in the Leadership Committee fundraisers for the center.

Leone also helps provide companion dogs to wounded servicemen and woman with the Wounded Warriors.

“Each of these women is truly extraordinary,” Murray added. “They refuse to limit themselves or accept the limits that others might place on them. Instead, these ladies have dared to realize achievements that have broadened horizons and created opportunities for future generations of Pathfinders.”
