The Long Beach High School lockdown was lifted, according to Nassau police.
Multiple NCPD cars were dispatched to the school in Lido Beach as the call came in at 7:48 a.m. on Sept. 10.
Michael DeVito, the Long Beach school district's assistant superintendent for finance and operations stated in an email to Long Beach High families and staff.
"The high school is on lockdown based on a phone call received. All students and staff are safe. Law enforcement are involved and a building search is underway. We will keep you posted."
Why the lockdown was implemented remains unclear.
In New York, a lockdown is used to protect students and staff from an immediate, violent threat inside or around the school building.
