The Long Beach Christmas Angel held its annual holiday party and fundraiser on Dec. 9 at Warehouse 5 in Island Park.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Long Beach-based non-profit organization, which is dedicated to improving the lives of families who are experiencing financial difficulties within the Long Beach School District. After Hurricane Sandy, the group saw an obvious need in the community and extended its help to victims of the storm.
The Christmas Angel is one of the largest charitable foundations in Long Beach and has donated nearly $2 million since its inception. The bulk of the Christmas Angel’s fundraising is done at its annual dinner party, one of the largest events in town, which draws hundreds of supporters and often honors outstanding members of the community.
Special guest bartenders at this year’s event included Meghan Gallagher, Doug MacConnell, Larry Lopez, Kerry Ennis, Ed Walpole and Kelly Hoarty, who help raise awareness and support for the organization’s mission. The event also featured music and dancing, raffles and a silent auction, and a grand cash prize.
