The incident took place on Saturday at 7 p.m. when the victim was walking to his 2003 Honda that was parked on West Chester Street, near Laurelton, in Long Beach, and was approached by a man who requested a ride to Atlantic Beach, according to detectives at the 4th Squad.
Detective Sgt. Ronald Nesbitt of the 4th Squad said the victim apparently had never met the man before, but agreed to give him a lift anyway.
While he was in the vehicle, the man threatened to kill the victim if he did not give him money, police said. When the victim told him he had no money, the robber ordered him to drive to Mobil, at 605 Burnside Ave. in Inwood, where he was forced to withdraw $80 from an ATM, police said. But the robber told the victim it was not enough money and then forced him to drive to a location in Far Rockaway, where he ordered him to withdraw $200 in cash from a convenience store ATM, officials said. The robber then removed two credit cards from the victim’s wallet and ran away in Far Rockaway, police said.
The robber was described as a black man in his 40s, wearing a white New York Giants jersey and black shorts, police said.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS. All calls will be kept strictly confidential, police said.
