Long Beach Jazz Festival

The history of jazz is that it's always been progressive and exciting."Which means, according to Adelson, the festival will appeal to a wide range of music lovers. Or as he puts it, "You don't have to be a jazz fan to enjoy the music. Just come on down and have a good time. We're very user-friendly. This is not highbrow, rather it's eclectic and entertaining."The festival features a mix of musicians who are played in years past and those performing for the first time. "We want to accommodate the local musicians and also bring in some new people," said Adelson. In all, there are 16 performances over four days in the library, plus entertainment in local restaurants. The participating musicians include:
- Steve Adelson - The jazz world's premier Chapman Stick player

- Los Playeros de Long Beach - South American musicians who perform Latin sounds, with an actual harp
- Matt Wilson - recording artist and inventive drummer for Dewey Redman Quartet, The Either Orchestra and the Charlie Kohlhase Quintet
