Long Beach MLK Center honors locals

On January 13, the Long Beach Martin Luther King, Jr. Center honored local citizens for their dedication to the community on Jan. 13. MLK’s Executive Director Myrnissa Stone and Acting Chair James Hodge hosted the event, which was held at the Knights of Columbus in Oceanside.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice was honored with the center’s Public Servant Award, while Long Beach CSEA President John Mooney received Public Service honors. Long Beach School Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Greenberg, who is retiring this year, was named Educator of the Year, and Rev. Walter Davis was honored by the center as Senior of the Year.

Jessie Sarkis was named Youth of the Year, and Annette Belle Hall was honored as Volunteer of the Year. MLK’s Business Person of the Year honors went to Alex Lettas.
