Two suspects were arrested at the house, while the other two fled the scene. Following a foot pursuit, police nabbed the additional suspects and placed them under arrest, police said.
The suspects, Alicia Varona, 21, Luis Ayala, 29, Jorge Delgado, 28, and Ronald Gilbert, 31, all of Long Beach, were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday, Oct. 11.
Police charged Ayala with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, second degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third degree sale of a fire arm, and third degree criminal sale of marijuana. If convicted, the suspect may face up to life in prison.
Gilbert was charged with third degree criminal possession of a weapon, and resisting arrest, police said. He faces up to eight years in prison for a and up to one year for a misdemeanor.
Police charged Delgado with third degree criminal sale of marijuana, an E felony, police said. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison. Varona was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and faces up to one year in prison.
"By getting weapons and drugs off the street, we remove the danger out of the community," a Long Beach Police spokesperson said. "The drug investigations will continue in the future."
The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Long Beach Police Department Det. James Canner and his partner, Nassau County Narcotics Bureau, Nassau County District Attorney's office and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
"This is just another fine example of the work being done by the narcotics team in the detective division," Long Beach Police Commissioner John Laffey said. "As I said last winter, after we executed the search warrant on East Chester Street, we will continue to make cases and close down drug dens and work as hard as we can."
