The City of Long Beach Monday received personal protective equipment. masks, gloves and other equipment from the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to support first-responders and their families.
Long Beach officials drove to Staten Island to the Tunnel to Towers foundation headquarters to pick up a large supply of gloves, face shields, batteries, KN95 masks, an electromagnetic disinfectant sprayer and cleaning agents.
The city is in Phase 2 of a reopening, allowing restaurants to serve patrons outdoors, retail stores and professional offices to open. City officials say they are enhancing a stockpile;e of PPEs in case there is a resurgence of the coronavirus.
Long Beach City Manager Donna Gayden thanked the Tunnel to Towers Foundation for the donations. "The City of Long Beach continues to take the extra safeguards to protect the safety and well-being of our city and residents," Gayden said.
Frank Siller, the foundation's chairman and CEO, said "We hope this donation of PPE will keep them (first responders and healthcare workers) safe so they can keep us safe during this pandemic."
