Dozens of events, more than 75 volunteers and countless well-wishers -- including President George Bush -- helped make the church's centennial a success, according to Holy Name's pastor, Fr. Thomas Harold.
"What impressed me the most was the tremendous amount of love people have for the parish and for the village [of Valley Stream] itself," Harold said.
While last Sunday's noon Mass marked the end of the celebration, the last official centennial event will take place Dec. 22, when the community is invited to go Christmas caroling.
