They cleaned, planted and generally spruced up several designated spots in the village.
The day began with an 8 a.m. kickoff at the Sandel Senior Center as Mayor Mary Bossart commendied the group for leading the way with beautification of our RVC "home." Trustee Jeanne Mulry, liaison to the Beautification Committee, thanked the events committee members who had organized the event. Cr. Cyd Charrow introduced Bob Schenone, RVC Pride co-chair and committee team leaders, Liz Boylan, Leslie and Rob Price, Tom and Bret Chung, Dan Quinn, Sean Crowley, Peggy McDonald, Elaine Fitzmaurice, Penny Lynch and Maureen Chiofalo.
Teams cleaned up Fireman's Memorial Park on N. Forest Avenue, Founders Park at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Merrick Road and Centennial Park at Mill River. A group from the Sandel Senior Center volunteered for a Front Street clean up, and will plant later this week, while Girl Scouts picked up leaves and debris and planted tulip bulbs( as they do every year) at the Village Green at Lee and Maple avenues. St. Agnes students mobilized to work on grounds near the school. The mayor and all four village trustees worked along with the teams.
The RVC Pride Committee produced certificates acknowledging all the volunteers for their efforts in beautifying the village. They will be mailed or presented to individuals and groups in the coming week.
