Love lives on at Rockville Centre's Maple Pointe

A number of couples — all residents at Maple Pointe Assisted Living, celebrated Valentine’s Day with a candlelight dinner. Each couple was escorted to their table which was covered with linen, crystal centerpieces filled with pink roses and topped by a flameless candle surrounded by red and pink rose petals. “[It felt like] a 5-star hotel dining experience,” said Paul Schiralli, a Maple Pointe resident. The meal presentation was as exquisite as the ambience, featuring a menu that included NY strip steak grilled and finished with a wild mushroom port wine sauce, stuffed chicken cordon blu, shrimp scampi, surf & turf, rosemary roasted potatoes and baked asparagus.

As the residents enjoyed their dinner, they were serenaded by Jacques Lebas, a conservatory-trained classical singer. He completed the evening with songs from the 1930s through the 1960s. Love was in the room and in bloom. There were smiles, laughs and kisses shared throughout the night by the celebrating couples, most of whom found “new love” after arriving at Maple Pointe.

“My father … now has more to do than ever and someone special in his life that makes the sunshine brighter,” said Carol Shore, the daughter of resident Stanley Shore.
